Change the physical or social environment

  • Change the level of background noise
  • Change the level of visual stimulation
  • Change the physical restrictions (walls, room size etc.)
  • Change the amount of organizational structures
  • Use lists or visual reminders
  • Change the task
  • Change the cues or how they are provided

Change the way that people interact with the student

Provide an organizational structure with specific directions

  • Monitor performance
  • Encourage, motivate and give feedback
  • Problem solve when something doesn’t work well
  • Determine when the task is finished
