Factors that Influence Transitions

  • Current skill set combined with impairments the student has resulting from the TBI.
  • Demands and expectations of specific situations.
  • Level of understanding and responsiveness to the student’s behavior.
  • Quality of treatment services provided to student and family prior to the transition and the expectation of service after the transition.
  • Readiness, preparation and motivation by the student and family.
  • Length of time since the injury.
  • Extent to which the student and family have to make or influence decisions made around transitions.
